Build confidence and fluency in speaking, listening, reading and writing, develop your grammatical accuracy, and apply your language skills through study visits and guest speaker events. Continue your studies into the afternoon for a more intensive programme with a smaller group class.
Study Visits and Guest Speakers
Being based in the academic city of Oxford gives students access to an exciting programme of Guest Speakers and Study Visits. Recent speakers include Ricky Needham, Ian Polychronakis and James Nugee. Study visits have taken students to the Ashmolean Museum, Natural History Museum and Modern Art Oxford, offering rich learning beyond the classroom.

Week 1: | Exploring Change-Makers Research and discuss the lives of influential figures such as Malala Yousafzai or Greta Thunberg. By the end of the session, students produce research notes and share findings in a mini conference, using academic English to describe impact and achievement. | Analysis Campaigns Examine how real campaigns like #MeToo or environmental petitions spread their message. Students compare two movements, analyse effectiveness, and present their conclusions using evaluative and persuasive language. | Designing and Presenting a Campaign Bring it all together by designing a campaign or an issue that matters today - from climate change to community action. Students work in groups to create and present their campaign proposal in an academic-style presentation with audience Q&A. |
Week 2: | Unpacking Creative Works Students will explore a range of creative pieces, from poems and lyrics to digital art and film scripts. Working in groups, they analyse one work in detail, focusing on its style, mood, and impact, before presenting their findings in a mini showcase. | How Ideas Take Shape This session looks at how ideas are turned into finished works. Students compare two creative processes - such as writing or visual design - identifying similarities and differences, then present their analysis using academic comparison and sequencing language. | The Big Reveal In the final session, students become creators by designing an original piece of work such as a short poem, poster, or digital design. Each group also prepares a short presentation to explain their choices, ending the week with a collaborative showcase. |
